맥주와 믿음의 유산

헤르켄로드 수도원은 12세기 벨기에 림브루 주에 시토회 수녀들에 의해 세워진 수도원으로 설립 후 자가소비와 지역을 위해 맥주 양조를 시작하였습니다.

오늘날에는 맥주를 양조했던 수녀들의 유지를 이어받아 브루어리 코넬리센에서 수세기 동안 전해 내려오는 레시피를 가지고 헤르켄로드 수도원 맥주를 양조합니다.

A legacy of faith and beer

The sister of Cistercian order founded their abbey in the Limburg region of Belgium in the 12th century.

Soon after, they began brewing beer.

Today Brouwerij Cornelissen brew the beers on be half of the sisters recipes passed down for eight centuries.

평화와 연대의 장소

수백년 동안 '헤르켄로드 수도원'은 저지대 국가 여성들의 위안과 쉼을 제공하는 안전한 휴식처였습니다. 오직 여성만이 수도원 경내 출입이 가능하였으며 여성들이 수도원과 직영 농장을 운영하였습니다.

그리고 물론 양조장 또한 여성들에 의해 운영되었습니다.

여덟세기 동안 헤르켄로드는 성실과 평온 그리고 훌륭한 맥주를 상징하는 이름이었습니다.

A place of peace and solidarity

For hundreds of years, ‘Abdij Herkenrode’ was a sanctuary providing shelter and comfort for women of the low country region. Only women were allowed on the grounds, and women ran the abbey and its farm.

And of course, its brewery.

For eight centuries, the Herkenrode name has stood for tranquility and integrity.
And great beer.

맥주의 황금기인 중세시대

지금과 같이 하수 시설과 정수 시설이 발달되지 않아 지하수의 오염으로 음용시 생명의 위협이 되던 때, 맥주는 건강하고, 영양가 있는 음료였습니다.

그 이후 838년이 지난 지금도 헤르켄로드 시리즈는 건강하고 영영가 있는 맥주를 양조하고 있으며 이제 대한민국에서도 즐길 수 있습니다.

Middle Ages were a great time for beer

In an age when water might kill you, beer was healthy and nutritious.

838 years ago later, the still-healthy and nutritious beers of the Herkenrode Abbey are available in Republic of Korea for the first time.
